WATSONVILLE, CA (The Santa Cruz Sentinel) – A traffic stop about 11:15 p.m. Thursday night resulted in the arrest of two wanted men who face additional drug and gun charges after police pulled them over at Main Street and Freedom Boulevard, according to Watsonville Police Department.
Gabriel Penuelas, 38, and Salvador Aguilera, 39, were charged with possession and transportation of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a loaded firearm in public and felon in possession of a loaded firearm, Cpl. Rudy Lopez said.
Officers found meth and a loaded gun in the vehicle, Lopez said.
There were outstanding warrants for both occupants, Lopez said.
Penuelas’ home was searched and an additional firearm was found. A “substantial amount” of meth also was found at the home, Lopez said. More than 2 pounds of meth was seized, he said.
Penuelas’ bail was set at $10,000.
Aguilera’s bail was set at $30,000.
Both men remained at Santa Cruz County Jail on Friday afternoon, according to jail records.
