MEMPHIS, Tenn. – More than 100 demonstrators gathered Sunday afternoon at Nathan Bedford Forrest’s statue to celebrate his birthday.
The confederate general’s statue sits in Health Sciences Park in the medical district. His birthday is Thursday, July 11.
They’re members of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans mechanized calvary. They call themselves a heritage group.
The placement of the statue has been a source of contention over the years. Sons of the confederate veterans want to keep it, but protestors have tried to have it removed….
