Salisbury – A small group gathered over the weekend in front of plaque in downtown Salisbury marking the life of confederate General John Henry Winder.
They were protesting a petition that has been also signed by Mayor Jake Day as a private citizen to remove the plaque.
Jonathan Taylor with a local blog the Eastern Shore News helped organized the protest.
He said, “There’s nothing offensive about it. It doesn’t have any confederate flag or anything that people could find offensive. It’s just about a guy who was from the area and I think people get too sensitive about word “confederate”. And that’s my big problem with it all.”…
